Today from Kamniška Bistrica over Kokrško sedlo to the summit. From the saddle onwards conditions mixed, mostly snow hard as concrete, some old windblown snow, partly bare, protections out. This part cold and windy. Descent over Kalce. At one o'clock snow still sufficiently frozen, under the hunting hut icy.

Saturday afternoon, via hunting path up, via marked valley. No heat, also few people. No special features on the path nasmeh

Nice greeting!

I'm turning to the forum for help in finding information about a "potential crossing" to the vast area under Kalška gora from the path towards Cojzova koča (somewhere at about 1550 m) upwards through the gully.

Somewhere I once saw a note (but I don't remember where), about some "very old crossing" to the Kalce, and I myself looked at those parts a while ago, and it seemed to me that there could really be some hidden trail there. Maybe someone knows more?

Hi,
one quite lost path towards Kalc branches off the path to Kokrsko sedlo at about 1170 meters, then across the gully and diagonally left upwards with a bit of scrambling to the saddle below Čmaževski turn and onwards to Kalški turn. There right towards Kalška gora.

j., I remember a tour description that seemed very appealing to me, but I think Bandzo is asking about another path. Once I took a photo from the path above Kobilna glava towards Kalška gora or Turns and asked if anyone on the forum knew about that path, but unfortunately I didn't get an answer. What was visible as a little path was about at the height that Bandzo mentions.

I'm attaching a photo snippet (phone has no optical zoom, so couldn't zoom in), where in the circled area the path isn't even visible, but with the naked eye it seemed pretty sure that it must be there.

Yes, Palčica, interesting! According to your photo, the path would start even above the height of Čmaževski turn. But further up and right across this part of Kalc towards Kalška gora there is a large area of difficult-to-pass scrub. If the path isn't trodden or at least a bit cleared, the crossing might be questionable.

Maybe one day we should take a look... velik nasmeh

Hi!

Yes, right Palček, I'm asking exactly about that path you mention. That lower one, at the thick beech (if I'm not mistaken about the branch name) then turns towards the hunting path above Žagana peč.

Exactly that photo I made myself and for some time I've been reviewing material and orthophoto images to create a bit of 3D feel for the possible path.

Definitely next time when I go towards Cojz I'll turn a bit left mežikanje

j., yes, if the path is overgrown scrub and no at least somewhat comfortable variant could be found through it, it might happen that it takes you in its embrace for hours.

Bandzo, I recommend myself for any info or tip and wish successful exploration.

In the morning when there was a bit of clarity, the top of Grintovec and Kočna were slightly whitened. Below 2400-2500 no snow.

Today up past Cojzova hut, down along hunter's to Žagana peč. On the path all bp, only on hunter's lower in the forest a bit searched for path continuation due to fallen trees velik nasmeh

Hut closes from today onwards.

Today from K. Bistrica over Kokrsko sedlo. Snow starts at the bench, trodden on marked, approx. 10 cm new snow on frozen base. From Kokrsko traverse under the wall, lots of drifted snow here, sometimes over knees. At fixed protections hard frozen snow, underneath some ice, no new snow, well crusted, pull directly to the ridge. This part quite steep, no mistake allowed here. On ridge snow unstable, spindrifts forming, summit waits for next time. Descend same path.

All super on Kalška gora via hunter's path from Žagane peči. Dry and bp.

A couple of days late... yeah, conditions without peculiarities. From the saddle there are 2 shorter snow patches, which can be avoided. Hunter's path completely dry.

On the hunter's path up we met only one mountaineer. From the summit we continued to Kalški ridge. Descent to Kokrsko saddle, where there were quite a few hikers. Descent via the normal route back to the valley.
