Has anyone by chance heard of some "hermit" who is supposed to live in the abandoned Planja hut better known as rifugio Morbegno below Triglav?

Not hermit, but true mountaineer soul...pride of our mountains.

About this special hermit you can read in Jana magazine, my husband and I even drank coffee with him, saw his home. Please find the magazine, August issue, don't gossip about the person, that's not cultured, has name and surname. I think he found his place in mountains, not a fly-by, as journalists visited. LP! And close this open topic.

I didn't want to offend anyone, the hermit term is not an insult for me, I even wrote it in quotes. I just wanted to learn more about it.

igorf: thanks for the link, learned a lot. Otherwise, don't know why some find the term hermit offensive, in Jana it even says weirdo.

This is my fellow villager Alojzij Žakelj from Javornik, employed in the ironworks as a turner, otherwise also the builder of both bivouacs on Mežakla: the one on Stebrasta skala (harder access) and the other on top of Jerebikovec. "Weirdness" is very relative. If we think well, the so-called civilized way of life - all days in industrial town contributing your share to destroying habitat of living beings,.. not just mere weirdness. Can't we really do otherwise? Lojz is capable of it!

It's not a rifugio because it wasn't a mountain hut, Capanna Morbegno was an Italian barracks. @heinz - what do you think we could do differently so we wouldn't be civilized weirdos? Can you explain concretely? - Lojz is certainly a weirdo because he lives differently from 2 million inhabitants of this country. Weirdo simply means strange to the environment, not necessarily idiot, as some on the forum jump quickly at a less used term. And even if TV films you, it doesn't mean they did it to set you as example to the masses. Žakelj just lives his life as he likes. Unfortunately in a few years he'll be known only for demolishing the entire Morbegno with bare hands just because he was afraid they'd really renovate it and turn it into another Triglav hut

Yes, you hit the point , if you don't follow the principles of social norms, you become a weirdo; better say that Lojze is special,... Why ... because he has b...., and hopes to live outside the corrupt society, but that's already bad and weird for many.

I don't understand what's so great about having some balls and living outside the "corrupt society" of which we are all part, me and you @jprim too. I could, of course, strip naked because of balls and chase with a spear through Jesenice forests for roe deer in the following years and live with nature like our ancestors from caves. What would I be then for the surroundings? Hero, fool, weirdo, special one or ordinary idiot? And TV wouldn't make a show, but would have a daily broadcast of the forest Big Brother.

Hey, good thinking ...so we won't be bored again, some fun and laughter ... Weekend will be colored white - somewhere. The show would probably be interesting and probably titled Forest goblin.

zippo and all others: what I wanted to say is that we are all weirdos for sure, regardless of where and how we live. If we swim with the current, it doesn't mean everything's ok with us.. Whoever swims against (not even because of some rebellion), is for that "magnificent and salvific" majority (read herd) a weirdo, but of course it's easy to claim the same in the opposite direction! Even more so. We know why... If we should talk about Bigbrother and pop-tv in connection with this (him), it would be downright shameful, since it's clear that Lojz withdrew to nature exactly from that and similar .... and thus became our inspiration for love of mountains and nature in general. And one more thing: in Tibet there are quite a few such Lojzes as ours, right? Weirdos?

Anyway, I know Lojze for about 20 years, he seems completely normal to me, even much more normal than most others. But he put his image on display before the wide public, 99% here present hide under nicknames, so judge who is the bigger weirdo.

Far from it that Lojz is dumbed down or whatever the people think. He is one of the rare people who feels through him, and yet every one of us, the deep spiritual essence, that which is hidden from eyes in the seemingly hasty "normal" world. He speaks and explains that which is not the real reflection of the Creator on the mess of this world. Only people who are more deeply connected with nature and themselves feel this. Therefore he is not bored either, because he is connected with the inner essence of the spiritually awakening human. Also with us in yoga we talk about the Great illusion - Maha maya of this world, which, if we are not deeply anchored with the help of meditation in our spirit, which is the witness of creation, truth, the most valuable thing we have after God in ourselves, quickly throws us into unreal shackles (flows) of the blindness of this world. Of course, a realized person knows and distinguishes the conditions of this world. Example: someone blindly subordinates his career, at that the family suffers. Another is diligent and works like black livestock, but again does not see his spirit, that it is not created merely as a work machine and has infinite abilities, joys, insight on all levels, above all does not want to be cramped. He is only interested in truth, nature, simplicity. Lojz already knows that the clock ticks only because of deeper realization of the truth about the human universal spirit; otherwise time has no meaning, it is eternal.

Well, someone could say the same about the last post, that it's weird, because it sticks out quite a bit from the average of the mountain forum.

Congratulations to this man! In this hypocritical, foul and forced society, where we all should live by some principles (for which we are not even unanimous what they should be and what benefit we should have from them) he is one of the rare who dares to live his life. Who has used that egoistic right to realize his dreams or live according to his guiding thought. People today live aimlessly, without such a thought that would guide their lives and behavior. Those who have it don't realize it either because one would have to make a little effort for it and/or they fear exactly that, to be excluded as weirdos, which is nothing else but fascist pressure on the individual. All great minds, big entrepreneurs, politicians,... were also something special. With the difference that society recognizes such speciality. And not always that. Volta's fellow scientists for example ridiculed him that his bulb would never light up. But it did!
