We're thinking of going to Grintovec from Konec on Thursday (via Streha). I'm interested if anyone can tell what to expect in the current conditions. We know there will probably be some snow, but I'm wondering if the path is dangerous regarding avalanches, slips etc. Thanks in advance.

Tomorrow precipitation is forecast, so it's hard today to say what the conditions will be on Thursday. Generally for Grintovec, if icy, big slip risk; if lots of new snow (probably not), big avalanche risk.

Anyway sharing experience! It was super... we went for sunrise... a bit before summit fog disappeared... there was quite some snow towards the end, some places a bit icy but with crampons all passable... otherwise super! And nicest sunrise imaginable...

I still think, if you make it across Visokogorska slopes with microcrampons/Lesce chains then you can do it without them too. This simply isn't for high mountain terrain, so best next time when asking don't mention these microcrampons. That just raises someone's "platfon". These are for lower forest terrain when icy or walks around the house. People waste on useless stuff, but won't risk 100 EUR for real 12-point crampons, unbelievable. Take them on tour and show how to fit and walk, with some practice you'll be much safer putting it in backpack. Use when needed! If no one to show usage, maybe I Tut can take time. Just for more safety and no unnecessary questions!

There is some difference though. If you buy these small microcrampons, you can go around without a problem. Of course not in the mountains. When you buy 12-point crampons, though, you need to get used to walking so you don't injure yourself. If someone buys 12-point crampons and goes to demanding terrain, they will walk for a long time in pain because they won't know how to step without tripping themselves or injuring themselves.

To Grintovec NEVER go IN WINTER with small microcrampons.

@pantani1 Currently, 3rd degree avalanche danger is declared for south slopes above 1600m, which is practically the entire ascent above Kokrsko sedlo, so I guess that's why there haven't been many attempts lately...
