Ferrata Ožarjeni kamen in Bohinj

If anyone uses Ožarjeni kamen as a via ferrata, it's their personal decision and responsibility. Ožarjeni kamen (as a via ferrata) does not exist, so it's nonsensical to debate whether it's bad or good.
Every mountain in Slovenia is crumbly, every path, some especially so. E.g., go across Kriška stena or to Tamar past Goličica and observe how the path is routed there - can we even call those secured paths? Pretty please. They aren't even marked paths, let alone secured. They are simply paths. You can get a stone on your head anywhere. And a whole block can collapse on you anywhere - regardless of whether the path is official or not. Let's be realistic - hiking in mountains is dangerous and some events cannot be foreseen. We try to avoid them. But sometimes fate is really cruel.
As for Ožarjeni kamen, maybe the guys just made a secured descent from the top of climbing routes so they don't have to abseil constantly. We now "abuse" it as a via ferrata.
Once again - everyone goes there because they want to.

Sorry, Primož - our posts here aren't ads or promotion, but info exchange. We hike mountains each on our own. Anyone posting contributes somehow to others hiking safer. But that other must always realize everything we do is dangerous and take responsibility for their deeds.

Climbed it this Saturday.. Excellent via ferrata, very good rock, don't know where crumbliness info comes from? Maybe this system - thinner cables and bolts good alternative for high-alpine via ferratas, as thick wire rope and big pegs simply too heavy (=expensive) for big walls? We did only first part, whole soon! Were at Savica ferrata before (super too!) and fatigue + awful heat too much for top ascent and long descent..

But there must be a known maintainer. And use at own risk, clear! This nice "via ferrata" became a problem unwillingly just because municipalities don't join such projects and support ferrata building where possible with tenders or calls. I'm sure there'd be interested people. Like with neighbors. It's part of tourist offer. Many Gorenjska municipalities ignore ferratas as part of "green tourism". Kranjska Gora exception but Bohinj and Bovec big dark spots on ferrata maps. So DON'T say untruths!

As I wrote I don't know how this area is regulated, but from your writing it seems this case is practically "DIY" via ferrata making since you say: "because municipalities don't join such projects..." So what untruth did I write?!
Probably this area is more linked to PZS than to municipalities.

I'm very curious if anyone has climbed the via ferrata to the end of the first part after the accident. I climbed it several times before. Today I was there because it's so nice. But the atmosphere is "heavy" especially since lately we see the "police-forbidden" tape too often. I climbed about 50m and everything was as it was, then turned back, out of respect for the deceased climber (hope she found peace) mainly uncertainty what's waiting higher up. Any info on the condition? Anyway no one maintained it before either.
