Hello, everyone!

I'm a new, still unpaid alpinist. Maybe you'll all laugh, but alpinism literally calls me to it. nasmeh
Why the topic title Everest?
Because it's probably the unattainable/attainable mountain of every alpinist. My question is the following. Who was the first Slovenian on the almighty mountain? Probably or surely we all know. Of course, our late Nejc Zaplotnik. But I'm interested in who it was or at how many years the youngest alpinist reached this holy mountain? velik nasmeh

First enroll in ŠP (of course with parents' consent), so that you first get familiar with climbing and learn basic rope maneuvers and climbing technique, and see if climbing suits you at all.

Members of mountaineering associations (PD) climb little and do alpinism. There are more hikers. Alpinists and climbers you'll have to seek among members of alpinistic sections (AO). There are quite a few in Slovenia, mainly organized somehow "locally"... (central Slovenia - AO Vertikala, AO Matica, Dolenjci - AO Novo mesto etc...). Of course there are exceptions who climb at other AOs. Many of us are not in any AO and roam more or less alone.

I myself joined PD Matica and I've checked out the activities in the AO club. Of course I'll go to ŠP first and then to Alpinism. If that's OK..?

Just like Rok says. Start with normal (summer) ascents in the hills to get a bit of feel (technically, and also geographically). In spring, annual sport climbing courses start in all sections, where you'll best learn the basics of climbing and techniques. If you see that it really suits you, you can continue with enrollment in the alpinism course. How old are you, if I may ask?

(btw, with Nejc there was Andrej Štremfelj on Everest in distant 79', so it won't be forgotten.)

Which one you enroll in first isn't that important, because (at least at the beginning) sport climbing and winter approaches and alpinism aren't so connected. Time-wise, you've missed the enrollment for the winter part of the courses, so you'll start with the summer part. But I advise you against going ALONE (or with inexperienced people) now, until the end of the winter season, to the hills. Find someone who has at least some experience with winter approaches or has done some course. Where are you from?

hello, see that the one with whom you'll go will take on certain responsibility for you and that's not easy for many. Especially in winter conditions, where you must pay extra attention to your own step. Without knowing (reactions) of your climbing partner and the fact that he is a complete stranger, I warmly advise against "pushing" into the mountains in winter at any cost. Start with mid-mountains, where the danger factor is smaller, but you'll still learn a lot anyway. Mountains in winter addict you, tours are much more strenuous, equipment much more specific. Take for example walking in crampons, or walking with an ice axe. You don't learn that at home. Etc., etc. I know that feeling that is just coursing through you, but start slowly, don't overestimate your abilities. Step by step. That's how the greatest succeeded.
Especially at the beginning don't overdo it, because you might come to resent the mountains for the rest of your life. Hike according to your psychophysical condition and not like others. You know yourself, what you're capable of and what not. In summer I'll gladly take you on some tour to see what you're made of. mežikanje
