I'm quite new to mountaineering hikes and I'm wondering where there are some similar hikes like to Velika Baba from the hut at Ledine. It was really super "climbing" up there for me.

Take a guidebook in hand and read a bit. One of them is for example "50 insured climbing routes" in Slovenia. LP Andrej

I think the basic purpose of this topic wasn't about discussing the formal and top way of grading path difficulties at home and around the world, but more about discussion on how individuals with experience see a certain path; to advise those going on a specific tour for the first time. It started with a question like: what's the comparison between two parts of the path - 1. over Prag to Kredarica and 2. from Kredarica to Mali Triglav. So, are they similar in difficulty, or is one of them harder (more demanding). The average hiker isn't interested in official categories from A-Z or I.-100 etc. A 60-year-old mom who's still fit enough to climb Triglav, that surely doesn't concern her, and I think not most who walk those paths either. I think regarding the path Kredarica - Mali Triglav, the sign is correct - "climbing". It would be wrong if it said "hiking" or "running", even if some might actually run it. (at least a part) To reassure climbers, I'd add that a regular hiker doesn't become a climber just because he goes up a section on pegs and succeeds, thank God.. So is the path over Prag less or more f***ed than Kr.-MT?

I'd just add a link: http://www.klettersteig.de/main.asp where under the "Hauptseite" tab you click on Slovenia, select the mountain range and desired ferrata. All are rated from A-E and are (compared to each other) quite realistic.

Yes, everything is O.K. I understand these official ratings, but at the same time I want to emphasize that on the forum we are "guys and girls from all winds", so it's fine to have an open topic or discussion based on experiences and in simple home language. If someone asks you something simply, you can also answer simply (even if it's just subjective assessment), so it's not about sending him to bookstores and various foreign sites etc.. I just welcome the purpose of the open topic. Lp heinz!

If anyone needs a description from Mašer's "50 ZPP" guidebook, let me know and I'll send an email. Here are some pics (scanned) about the Furlan path on the Gradiška tour. LP Andrej
