To the Czech Hut it's dry, but on Ledine it's still wintry.

Today early in the morning we set off from the cargo cable car to Ledine and further to the glacier. In the gully there's still snow, which can be bypassed; access itself to the gully is over snow. In the upper part of the path in the gully the cable is torn, luckily in the easier section. Further uphill on the path there's snow in places, so caution is needed. Snow also on part of the path if descending via the hunter's path. The hut will be open from next weekend onwards, as they will be repairing the cargo cable car this weekend. On the ascent to the gully you can observe new landslides on the right under the path to the Czech Hut, then the water-rich Sinji Waterfall and Wiki's Candle (waterfall in that section). The landslide has likely also damaged the path from the Czech Hut to Žrelo and further to Ledine (at least the landslide is visible), further there was a landslide in the Teranova direction, slightly above the entry to Žrelo; on descent via the Hunter's Path I noticed a huge landslide right of the Lower Ledinski Waterfall. Snow will remain on the glacier under Skuta for quite some time. lp

In the morning we went from the cargo cableway to the Czech Hut. The path is not too steep and doesn't drag on. We wanted to go to Vratca but due to fog we changed our minds and went on through Žrelo to Ledine. The climbing is not too demanding and the snowfield can be bypassed. During the ascent the fog had already lifted. On Ledine there were many visitors from the Logarska side. Nice mountaineering greeting

Yes, Klavdy, there were visitors, but we slept alone with the warden; the whole hut was ours . Actually, I saw those people when descending from Rinka and heading to Mrzla gora. There were kids among them too, altogether quite noisy

Does anyone know how the path from Ledine through the gully to Češka is? Mainly if it's dry yet. Nice greeting to all and thanks in advance for the reply.

On the path there is a small snow patch, ice axe recommended (it can be crossed without too), but helmet "mandatory" anyway.

Perfect morning for the mountains and since my son and I were a bit limited on time, we chose a shorter hike and did a loop starting from Ravenska Kočna to Češka koča, then through the gorge to Kranjska koča on Ledine, and then along the hunting path from Ledine back to the start. Very pleasant path, where there's something for everyone: walking through forest, then steeper into the rocks, pegs, wire ropes and staples don't lack, and even a large piece of snow (more like hard ice than snow) got in our way, but we easily bypassed it. The only downside of our trip was that we didn't see any little animal climbing the rocks, no problem next time. Anyway, we spent a pleasant morning there where it's the most beautiful, at least for me and I believe for many of you too, LP.

Yes, in one word: sadly. People (we) are often too careless in achieving such and other goals. Human vanity too often clouds sound reason. I myself am horrified many times by what is seen in the mountains.

On 5.8.2010 I walked this path. Picture of irresponsible parent in Žrelo says more than 1000 words. LP

There are way too many such people who meddle in others' lives.

Some are really weird about their own safety, especially their kids. Last year we met a young family descending from Razor, already in the lower part where there are some unpleasant ledges that the path nicely bypasses. They went straight down, in shorts and sneakers, partly climbing, a bit on their butt, stones flying all around. The little guy was about 7 years old, when I yelled to his mom that a good path goes just 30 m aside, she shrugged and said: "You know, who doesn't risk doesn't profit". It surprised me so much that I didn't comment anymore. Did she even realize what she risks and what she profits? On the path they would descend faster anyway.
