Afternoon summit, if I can call it that. Sveti Martin. 478m high. From the village Rubije you go. Interesting that the path is marked and nicely signposted. At the top there's a box with a logbook. Once there was a church on top. Only some of the wall remains. The tooth of time has erased the traces.

On the Karst it's wonderful –
never too early,
never too late:
everything is always at the right time,

On the Karst it's wonderful –
never too quiet,

all are always in good repute,

Yeah, yesterday Maksi really made it to the final. I wouldn't have known about Volnik at all if I hadn't read the description on hribi.net. And it's close by. But we haven't been to those parts, maybe because it's near the state border and in the time of Yugo one wasn't allowed to go there because border guards were patrolling. Now it's different. Just the two of us missed two turnoffs. And overlooked an arrow somewhere in the middle of the path where we should go straight but went right so long until the path or later cart track was lost. What now? We turned around and spotted markings on the slope right to the top. Interesting that there was no path but markings yes. And a bunch of benches of course. The descent wasn't difficult although we went down that slope again. No gvišno there. Hiking poles would have been just right but who would think that on the Karst a path can be steep too.
could walk on foot from home1
but when going for the first time to an unknown peak2
you can't imagine what it looks like3
we briefly looked at the map4
I didn't let it into the water.5
Quite a bit of walking through the forest. There was no sun.6
These grasses are from elsewhere.7
On the tree a sign for Volnik.8
Disease of the tree.9
and then we were on a slope in tall grass, where there were lots of ticks.10
interesting perhaps it was once a path because there were markings all the way to the top on the slope11
Views12
we'll have to come back another time when the views are better13
we stay a little while14
now we know the paths15
Nanoško and Čavensko mountains can be seen.16
On the summit17
a bit lower there are boundary markers, once all guarded18
carefully down.19
we went straight through the grass to the lower path.20

Darinka,
Volnik is a nice hike starting in the village of Repen, Italy. Circular, then you can pop into the osteria for a glass of wine and gnocchi or pasta nasmeh

I doubt there will ever be truffles in the Karst. Today I searched for them in vain. nasmeh Afternoon summit without a view. Altimeter showed 354m. Zajčevca or Žajševca. Quite overgrown to the top. Then Maks and I went to Grižnik and back to the starting point to the car.
Some time along the road. Zajčevec is visible.1
I chose the shorter steeper path.2
first truffle.3
I haven't been here for a long time.4

Sunday Škratljevca. 403m it said on the altimeter. Whoever hikes in the Karst should detour to this summit. I didn't even know exactly where it was. But someone wrote approximately where to go. And Maks and I went looking and found it. I don't know if there's anywhere else so much stone piled up. Probably why the name. Once the dwarves are said to have thrown stones at each other and left them there. That's what the story says. And the Huns are supposed to have hidden treasure under those stones. Who knows?
Autumn in the grasses.1
Along the path.2
I quickly found the junction.3
and on the summit4
Isn't that the petrified face of a škrat?5
