When we enjoyed our first Three-Thousander yesterday,,and since we were so enthusiastic about this experience and admiring neighbor Ankogel from Sauleck,,,on descent to the valley in wonderful Alpine town Mallnitz we decided for another feat,,,We're going even higher,,Overnight in Mallnitz and at 8730 take gondola to upper cable car station, to Hanoverhaus hut continuing towards Ankogel over rock slabs and glaciers,,.Special feature of this ascent is reaching two Three-Thousanders in one go ,,as the path goes over Kleine Ankogel which is (3096m),,I think all next words are superfluous,,Just the feeling we had like being in Drežnica as we met large group of hikers on Ankogel from Kobarid and Drežnica,,,

Last week from top of Hochalmspitze all neighboring peaks were still partially snowy, especially in glacier area and surroundings if nothing else. But given warm conditions snow was soft and nicely walkable. I had winter gear with me but didn't use it anywhere.

While camping around Austria last week, my friend and I conquered this peak among others. With the first cable car we went a bit above Hannoverhaus and started crossing on granite slabs towards both Ankogels. Just when we were at the top, fog was rushing over it, but we had nice views a bit lower. We also met some Slovenians, they were the only ones we met anywhere in Austria.

Today 16.9.2023 from Mallnitz via ski slope and path to Hannoverhaus and then on to Ankogel. Despite poor forecast super sunny day. Path no problem, cross just one snowfield, icy in morning, later no issues. Back to valley by gondola, price 24€ per person. In short wonderful day without crowds. Nice mountaineer's greeting
