The genus Festuca is extremely difficult to identify, moreover the species F. vivipara is very rare in our mountains, it grows on silicate, not on limestone (Mangart sites are mentioned).
On limestone however in our mountains a very common similar species occurs, Poa alpina var. vivipara - viviparous alpine meadowgrass. In the lowlands, especially in the pre-Dinaric and sub-Mediterranean area, another very similar grass grows: Poa bulbosa, bulbous meadowgrass.

Unfortunately we do not know where the above image was taken.

The author reports that it was photographed on Vremščica. Therefore it is certainly tuberous fescue. The tuberous thickenings are also well visible in the spike.
