Veliki Babanski Skedenj

Description of mountain:
It is a peak on the south side of the Kanin Mountains, one of the domes separated from the main ridge by the expansive Kaninski podi plateau. From certain valleys, especially from Bovec, it appears as a bold ridge, while from elsewhere it is barely noticeable as it is hidden behind higher peaks in the main ridge. The view extends from nearby peaks such as Vrh Plaške Planje, Visoki Kanin, Prestreljenik, Rombon, and other lesser-known summits in the range to Mangart, Jalovec, peaks in Loška stena, Bavški Grintavec, peaks above Kriški podi, Triglav, Kanjavec, and Lepo Špičje, as far as the Krn Mountains. In front lies the Polovnik ridge, with the Bovška kotlina basin to the left below and the Soča Valley toward Kobarid to the right; to its right are the ridges of Stol, Matajur, and Skutnik. The horizon, via Velika Baba, concludes at the Med Baban saddle, beyond which Antelao, Pelmo, and Marmolada in the Dolomites are visible on clear days.
