Description:
15/7/17 Tour of the Valgoglio lakes.
In upper Val Seriana, take the left sign for the road to Valgoglio, which quickly gains elevation over the valley, pass the village, continue on the narrow road to the Bortolotti location, paid parking (5 euros), or a little higher at the sharp bend there is another small municipal parking area in Becc location. Signs for the trail that starts here (228 and 268) immediately into the woods, it traverses on a false flat, to rejoin the original path that rises from the village, next to the pressure pipes coming down from the lakes. It's easy to spot the destination by looking up at the saddle where the white and red pylon of the service cableway for the dams protrudes. Just past a beautiful isolated house, you re-enter the woods, Selva d'Agnone. Follow the path looking for 'flags' on trees or stones, keeping more or less crossing the green pressure pipe, until you emerge near a small stream on the mule track. On more open and gentle terrain, you reach a characteristic clearing, bench and opposite a pretty fountain carved from a log, immediately after you reach the junction, small cross and markers, leave the white road on the right that goes up to Alpe d'Agnone. Now the trail climbs the steep slope of the valley floor with tiring switchbacks that lead to the plain (about 1800 m) with the ENEL service buildings for the dams. Here the trail forks, markers, on the left - ascent direction - to Lago Nero, trail 268, continuing instead towards the visible front of the Sucotto lake dam, then diagonally up to the second dam where Capanna Cernello is located.
