Every season is good for carving out a weekend in Val d'Orcia. If spring is the apotheosis of green in the undulating landscape, in autumn the fields darken and the hills turn to dozens of shades of ochre, brown but also the yellow of the vineyards. The villages dotting the valley with bell towers and fortresses often emerge from soft clouds of fog.
