Anghiari is a splendid medieval village located in the territory shaped by the flow of the Tiber and Arno rivers. Inviolable bastion thanks to the powerful 13th-century walls, it has been a significant reference point for many historical events, upholding the flag of Tuscan identity in a borderland of very delicate balances. On June 29, 1440, the famous Battle of Anghiari, frescoed by Leonardo da Vinci in Palazzo Vecchio, reaffirmed Florentine hegemony over Tuscany.
