Description:
The Stivo (seen later from afar and from Monte Creino) comforted our hearts, as we had renounced climbing it. Magnificently illuminated by the midday sun, it was as if it too said: “I am too loaded with unstable snow, not today! Tomorrow or another time you will traverse the slope you left halfway.” So it was. Arriving in Santa Barbara in the municipality of Ronzo Chienis (Trento), we already parked with difficulty. The night had deposited a high layer of snow, so much so that bad weather still lingered on the mountain peaks. However, the landscape was beautiful, and the snowshoes “sang” at every step, and the pristine whiteness weighed even on the hazelnut groves along the path, bending them. So, after more than an hour, we headed up the steep slope of Stivo. The track was a deep furrow and, step by step, the snow... a worrying sound. Which for the more experienced among us guaranteed... instability. So we decided to desist, turning our gaze to the Creino and Brugnolo mountains. Placed a short distance from Santa Barbara, they became our peaceful belvedere over Lake Garda and towards the Stivo, illuminated (like us) by an early spring.
