On August 24, 2016 first, then October 30, interspersed and followed by an incredible and tragic trail of minor events, a terrible earthquake struck the territory in the southern Marches, straddling Lazio, Umbria and Abruzzo. The beloved high lands of the Sibillini were devastated, first and foremost for the tragic loss of human lives, but also for the upheaval of cities, towns and hamlets that resulted, with consequences that – especially in the Ascoli area – may be felt for decades.
