Located at approximately 4,538 m.a.s.l. is the Huaytapallana snowcap, 32 km from the city of Huancayo - Peru. It forms part of the Eastern Cordillera of Peru's Central Andes. It has been protected as the Huaytapallana Regional Conservation Area since 2001.
