Description:
The Täuferhöhle near Wappenswil (Switzerland) got its name from the Anabaptists who sought refuge there after the Reformation. After they were threatened with death by the Zurich cantonal government in 1526, some withdrew here. During excavations in 1830, niches with cutlery and painted tiles were discovered inside the cave. Whether the co-founder of the Zurich Anabaptists, Felix Manz, who was missionary in the Oberland, also hid here is conceivable but not proven.
