In Sarganserland within sight of Lake Walen, there is the Palfries-Bahn: a rustic cable car that brings hikers from the valley floor to the sun terrace of Palfries. From this popular excursion point, we start our hike to the summit hut on Alvier. Over steep paths, partly secured with wire ropes, steps, and even a ladder at one point, we reach our goal and immediately collapse into the loungers.
