Description:
Long on the TO-DO list and finally it's time for it - the Spitzmauer! Passed by it or looked at it so many times already, now it was the moment. Actually, I don't like the path to Prielschutzhaus, walked it so often and the long forest road drags endlessly until it finally goes uphill. After about 800m I reach Prielschutzhaus and after seeing the signpost, from there another 4h to Spitzmauer and only 3h to Priel, I almost took the other route again :-) But no, I've been to Priel twice already, so onwards towards Spitzmauer, part of the path I know from my Totes Gebirge traverse, via Stodertaler Klettersteig I want to take the more direct line up. The 160m climb is not too difficult and then you're on a plateau from where you ascend the last 200m to Spitzmauer. I share the summit and the mega view from above with only 2 other mountain companions. Partly a bit cloudy but from below it looked worse today. I take the same route down, at Prielschutzhaus there's coffee and cake - that simply has to be :-) The descent from Prielschutzhaus I do running, which I feel later in my legs, but I just want to get the path over with quickly. Great tour, mega view and great climb!
