Description:
Nice hike suitable for people with trail-finding skills and adventure spirit, as the central part is marked only sporadically and not evidently (after all, they were smugglers!!). Leave the car near Rifugio Rododendro (Val Sesis), climb CAI trail no. 138 towards Laghi d'Olbe to Casera d'Olbe. Here leave the evident road and turn sharply right, start searching for the trail along the grassy slopes of the south/east wall of M. Lastroni. The trail is hard to spot especially the first 200/300m. Once spotting the rare red marks, follow north/east and soon it becomes more evident. Follow it with ups and downs to the east side of M. Lastroni. From here, carefully spotting rare traces, descend to Pian dei Pastori which leads to the asphalt road of Val Sesis. Then return to Rifugio Rododendro for a nice beer.
