Description: On the eastern part of Mátra, a solitary volcanic mountain peak, the 296 m high Várhegy pierces the sky with the walls of Sirok Castle. Our ancestors carved the fortress into the interior of a rock block and built it on top. Mysterious windows open from the cavities formed in the mountain's belly and the branching casemate system onto the road leading to the castle. The oldest part of the fortress is the residential tower in the upper castle, upon which the old tower was built, serving as the guard's quarters.
