Description: The first documented mention of the castle complex is from the year 1230. It was built on a steeply sloping rock spur above the Waldaist Valley. Over the centuries, structural changes were repeatedly made. Of the former small medieval fortress, today only the chapel, the ruined high castle with its multi-story outer walls and round arch windows with central columns remain. In 1576, a Renaissance tract was built in place of the palas, which is still inhabited today. The castle also houses a castle museum and is used for events and castle events, thereby breathing new life into the old walls.
