Description:
In 1141, Otto I de Lengenpach is first mentioned as the castle owner. His successors soon called themselves only after Rehberg.
When Otto V, provost of Regensburg, was killed in 1235, the lordship fell to the territorial prince. From 1314, it belonged to Agnes of Hungary as a widow's seat. The Habsburgs pledged it several times in the 15th century, first to the Grabner family (1410), then to Ulrich von Eitzing (1451), and finally to Georg Mühlwanger. Emperor Frederick III redeemed the pledge and had the castle administered by stewards. Emperor Maximilian I sold the lordship in 1501 to Hans von Sacher zu Weissenstein. From 1520 to 1650, it was owned by the Thonradl family.
