Description: Today I climb to the Ötzi discovery site at 3,210 meters. Many people only know the stone pyramid, which can also be seen from the valley, but the actual find site of the famous glacier man is a few meters further north. The red dots mark the places where the copper axe, the backpack, and the quiver with arrows were found. Even in high summer, the site is mostly covered with ice and snow. I took the same path that Ötzi chose 5,300 years ago, an unmarked and dangerous trail of loose scree. Hikers with less high mountain experience and no local knowledge should therefore definitely choose the safer new route via Similaunhütte.
