Description:
Day 2 in the Sexten Dolomites. Today the Paternkofel crossing was on the program. The tour offers incredibly beautiful views of the famous Drei Zinnen.
Starting point is Auronzohütte at 2,333 m. From there we follow the visible path towards Lavaredohütte, which we reach a few minutes later. From there we ascend towards Paternsattel (2,454 m) and follow a scree field left into the west face of Paßportenkopf. Already here the Drei Zinnen tower visibly and impressively in front of us. A sight we will enjoy more often today. A short tunnel leads us to a wire-secured ledge. From here at the latest, the helmet comes into play! We follow the ledge to a visible stone window up to Paßportenscharte (2,589 m). Then the path continues over the Paßporten south ridge until after some up and down we reach Gamsscharte (2,650 m). There begins the upper part of the Innerkofler via ferrata (B/C), which brings us to the summit of Paternkofel (2,744 m) without much effort.
