Description:
Ascent to Ortler via Hintergrat route (AD) at the turn of July and August 2022. Conditions good, the small glacier on the ridge is in good condition. Approach from Sulden via Hintergrat hutte.
Descent somewhat unconventionally via the ascent route and not the normal route. Everyone was terribly surprised, but if you want to avoid glaciers on the normal route and get down faster, descending Hintergrat makes a lot of sense, plus after a quite crowded ascent you will finally have views just for yourself.
