When it comes to alpine descents, most of us think only of ski mountaineering, while few think of alpine snowboarding. This is logical, as there are far fewer alpine snowboarders than skiers. Still, it's right to know that Slovenians, besides ski descents, have also made a snowboard descent from an eight-thousander. In 1995, Marko Čar snowboarded from the summit of Gašerbrum I with Iztok Tomazin and thus became the first person in the world to achieve this.
