Description: Veľký Rozsutec (1609.7 m a.s.l.) is a peak in the Krivánska Malá Fatra. It is considered one of the most beautiful peaks in Slovakia. Veľký Rozsutec has become a symbol of the range and is also featured in the logo of the Malá Fatra National Park. In the past, it was rumored that gold was found near the summit and there is a legend about hidden Jánošík treasure. It is a characteristic rugged rocky peak in the northern part of the main ridge. The typical dolomite relief consists of the most diverse rock forms. At its foot, scree cones form. Rozsutec dominates the entire surroundings with its shape and height, especially its 160-meter-high western wall. The peak was formed by the thrusting of the Choč nappe over the softer layers of the Krížna nappe. Erosion created the current summit and the rock cities around it, which are the largest of their kind in Slovakia.
