Different from the steep climbs in the dolomites the Messnerroute in the south face of the Neuner offers a pure friction climb of UIAA 5. Though the difficulty is relatively easy climbed with modern climbing shoes the runouts are quite committing. There are few extra placements for nuts only - So you've got to lead well even 20 m above the last old and rusty peg ;). Altogether it was a very enjoyable climb with a good friend...
