Monte Chiadenis 2459m | CAI Portogruaro Via Ferrata

Description:
Beautiful excursion in a unique setting. The Peralba-Chiadenis area is fairly popular, also due to proximity to the Piave springs. There are however almost never lines and tourist masses found in the nearby Dolomites. It is not rare to tackle the ferrata in complete solitude. The path winds along the border between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto, with Austria just a few hundred meters away. As mentioned, this report describes the route northeast-southwest (from passo del Cacciatore to rifugio Calvi). In this direction the major difficulties are faced uphill. Nothing prevents however traversing the equipped itinerary of Monte Chiadenis in the opposite southwest-northeast direction. It is also possible to go up and down Monte Chiadenis on the same side. In either sense, maximum attention is needed to not dislodge stones present along the whole path that can endanger following hikers. The Monte Chiadenis via ferrata is combinable with the nearby Sartor via ferrata on Monte Peralba. With good training and sufficient time both vias ferratas can be climbed in a day, but it is much more comfortable to do the two ascents on separate days overnighting at rifugio Calvi.
