Monte Ceva, 21 November 2021. Sometimes fog envelops us and gives us special moments, just like on this Cai Este hike to Monte Ceva. Recognized as a Special Protection Area and included among Sites of Community Importance, the Ceva group holds a true treasure trove of biodiversity. An example of the extraordinary uniqueness of this area is the unusual coexistence of the dwarf prickly pear, notoriously heat-loving, with the cobweb houseleek, which is instead a glacial relict. Approaching the summit, the landscape becomes harsher and veins of latitic rocks are noticeable. After reaching the summit, we descended to the ruins of the ancient monastery of Santa Maria delle Croci to reach directly the starting parking area.
