At Pentecost weekend I started my fitness training for Großglockner, I wanted to start the first big alpine tour on Hochkönig. Once I was almost up there, but then we had to turn back! This time everything went very well, top motivated I started at 4:15 am my tour from Arthurhaus parking lot. Then to Mitterfeldalm and from there on, past Torsäule and up to the still snow-covered Hochkönig plateau. There were a few really tricky spots, my ice pick also served me well on crossings. I had the summit all to myself, that's certainly an exception up there, because on weekends and good weather there's definitely always a lot going on, probably because Matrashaus only opens next weekend. I loved it and enjoyed the panorama for over 1 hour. The tour itself drags quite a bit, if it gets quite warm, the still to be crossed snow fields below Torsäule are currently to be enjoyed with great caution, likewise there were 2 demanding spots up top due to snow. I then lay in the sun for a very long time below Torsäule, it was really dreamy!
