Description: Lokvarsko Lake is an artificial lake created when the Lokvarka River was dammed in works that lasted from 1952 to 1955. Although Lokvarsko Lake is artificial, it has almost perfectly blended into the natural environment of beautiful mountain spruce forests, so today it represents an exceptional tourist attraction and a favorite place for athletes and recreationists. The first world championship in underwater orienteering was held on the lake, as well as numerous international rowing regattas, and since 1978, a traditional gathering of hikers, cyclists and other nature lovers under the names POJ and BOJ (on foot or by bike around the lake) has been held here. Lokvarsko Lake is also a favorite haunt of fishermen, as it is rich in trout, carp, roach, grayling and other fish species.
