The Alps are a symbol of Europe. This mountain range is one of the continent's main tourist destinations, but it is much more than a vacation spot. It is a subdivision of the Eastern Alps and is located in the Southern Tyrolean Alps, east of the Adige River. Several of its peaks are formed by dolomitic rocks that stand out for their unusual colors.
