Jiří Beran is an epidemiologist and vaccinologist. In April 2002, he became the director and chief physician of the Vaccination and Travel Medicine Center in Hradec Králové. He founded and from 2002–2008 led a similar center at the Clinic of Infectious Diseases of the University Hospital in Hradec Králové. In 2004, he became the head of the Independent Educational Workplace for Tropical and Travel Medicine at the Institute of Postgraduate Education in Healthcare in Prague.
