Description:
In the Supramonte di Urzulei, the lower part of Codula Orbisi is called Gola Orbisi and ends by flowing into the Gola del Flumineddu at a place known as Sa Giuntura. A little further downstream begins the narrowest section of the Flumineddu, the famous Gola di Su Gorropu. Orbisi is an extremely narrow gorge (with sections down to about 1 meter). It is classified as 'difficult' due to the complicated progression inside, characterized by rope descents up to nearly 40 m even over voids (without foot support), and some climbing. Its uniqueness lies in being a hybrid between 'wet' and 'dry' canyoning. Thus arises the dilemma of traversing it equipped with a wetsuit or dinghy. About 3/4 into the gorge, one can choose the underground variant (low exit) which requires a wetsuit and headlamp. It can certainly be counted among Sardinia's most interesting gorges for lovers of this discipline.
