Kunžvart Castle Ruins - Hrad Kunžvart
Municipality: Strážný District: Prachatice - Czech Republic
The facility, designed as a watch castle, was built at the beginning of the 14th century on Mount Kunžvart (1033 m). It is protected on three sides by steep rocks and on one side by a moat. Thus it formed an impregnable fortress. The name of the castle derives from „Königswarte“. According to old reports, however, the castle was no longer inhabited from 1547 and fell into ruin rapidly.
