Ausseerland is considered the geographical center of Austria. Sarstein to the west of the town is again in the middle between the Inner and Styrian Salzkammergut.

However, there is no mediocrity, as the ascent of this imposing vantage point undoubtedly ranks among the top ten of the entire Salzkammergut, because from above you see not only the glacier-covered Dachstein, but also enjoy an impressive deep view of Hallstädtersee, Attersee and Grundlsee. Geologically, the Sarstein mountain range belongs to the Dachstein mountains.
