Description: Haluzická tiesňava, also known as Prierva, Haluzický výmoľ, Sprašová súteska, is a natural monument located in the built-up area of the village Haluzice. It was formed by the erosive activity of the Haluzický potok stream, which in the first phase cut into the less resistant dolomites and in the later phase broke through to an even less resistant layer of clay shales. The canyon is now 1 km long, 50 m deep and 200 m wide. At first glance it appears harmless, but in reality one can observe the unique speed at which it deepens and widens. To date, only its deepening has been somewhat prevented, it still visibly grows in width. Haluzická tiesňava is an illustrative example of river piracy. A few centuries ago, the ravine was still relatively short. By erosion, it quickly deepened and lengthened backwards. Eventually, its bottom cut through the bed of another stream that originally flowed through the village of Haluzice.
