The "King" Ortler is the highest peak in South Tyrol. The traverse over the Hintergrat is one of the greatest alpine ridge tours in the Eastern Alps, thus an alpine classic of the first order. The Hintergrat is a true classic and is mentioned in the same breath as Hörnligrat, Biancograt, Große Zinne - normal route and Stüdlgrat.
