We are in the Graian Alps in Valle d'Aosta where Gran Paradiso is Italy's first National Park and the only massif exceeding 4000 m without bordering other states.

The summit consists of an aerial ridge rising to 4061 m and its ascent requires an ascent of about 2000 m elevation gain+ (uphill only) starting from Pont in Valnontey.
