Description: Hiking Zugspitze via Höllental: Germany's best mountain tour is what @Marius Quast and I wanted to experience. But why can you hike so well to Zugspitze via Höllental? To Zugspitze (2,962 meters), Germany's highest mountain, there are several hiking routes. One route is the Zugspitze mountain tour via Höllental. The special thing is that the mountain tour is a mix of hiking, via ferrata, glacier and high tour. To get to the summit of Zugspitze you have to go through the Höllentalklamm, then over a via ferrata. Then follows a longer walking section to the glacier. The Höllentalferner is now very difficult to cross without crampons. Therefore WARNING at this point. If you make it over the glacier you reach the bergschrund. That's the key section where the glacier meets the rock face. If you make it to the rock face, it goes steeply up via via ferrata.
