Description: © CLAUDIO MORTINI™◊ Scicli (Ragusa) evocative location of Sicilian Baroque that serves as the backdrop to the life of Inspector Montalbano, World Heritage Site since 2002 on the UNESCO list. Monumental Baroque city with the shapes of a living nativity scene, Scicli was sung by the famous writer Elio Vittorini as "the most beautiful" on the planet in his unfinished novel "Le città del mondo". Nestled at the intersection of three valleys, the village immediately appears to its visitors as it winds through the medieval layout of its quarters dense with pink houses kissed by the warm Sicilian sun. Its historic center is an expression of the creative genius of the late Baroque age, the result of the 18th-century reconstruction following the disastrous 1693 earthquake that razed the entire city to the ground.
