From La Casera to Rifugio Col Visentin

Col Visentin with Rifugio Visentin 5° Artiglieria Alpina was the destination of this late October hike. Starting point of our hike to Col Visentin is the La Casera restaurant, 1400 m, reachable from Nevegal via a comfortable road. From the parking follow signs to Rifugio Visentin (5° Artiglieria Alpina) along a trail that immediately promises views of nearby Dolomites and Prealps. Indeed, after a few minutes, a splendid overhanging view of Lake Santa Croce and the Alpago mountains. Proceed passing Col Faverghera then to Ex Rifugio Brigata Cadore. From here starts the Creste trail: panoramic, overhanging Fadalto and the plain, but always safe with extraordinary view of the Dolomites amphitheater and Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. After over an hour of walking from ex Brigata Cadore refuge, with a succession of majestic panoramas, we reach the summit of Col dei Gai (1745 m) where the Madonnina de le Creste stands, descend to a saddle before the last uphill pull that takes us to Rifugio 5° Artiglieria Alpina on Col Visentin summit (1763 m). For the return follow the road, passing Rifugio Bristot and the Botanical Garden and soon to the parking.
