Description:
FINAL STAGE OF ALTA VIA NO. 2 From Lago della Stua in Val Canzoi, take the right trail, and in a couple of hours reach Malga Alvis, 1637 m. From there, right behind starts a trail that climbs the hill to Passo Alvis 1880 m with a view of Rifugio Boz just below. From Rifugio Boz reach Passo Finestra (1766 m). Descending, find a junction and keep right along trail no. 801 well marked that slightly ascends passing under the ridge of Monte Zoccarè Alto (1929 m). Then steeply up towards Sasso di Scarnia where some fixed ropes are encountered. The trail then descends overcoming a rock jump and skirting the overhanging wall. Then the path flattens under high rock walls to reach the saddle. After a mugo area, cross a scree and reach a col of Monte Ramezza. Continuing almost flat along Costa Alpe Ramazza, climb a ridge and cross a steep slope above Val Noana. Then pass Piazza del Diavolo and skirt Busa di Pietena. Continue along the old mule track leading uphill to Passo di Pietena (2094 m). A mule track leads to the large Busa delle Vette whose bottom has a malga. The mule track then skirts Vette Grandi and climbs to Passo delle Vette Grandi (1994 m). Below the pass stands Rif. Dal Piaz. From here following marker no. 801 first with many switchbacks along the military road then through a rocky trail and forest in about 1 hour 30 min to Passo di Croce d'Aune.
