Description:
Finally we also managed Cima Vezzena from Lago di Caldonazzo. Ascent on the legendary Kaiserjägerstraße - impressively winding through rock passages up to Monterovere - overcoming up to 12.1% gradients. Continue on asphalt road past Monterovere to Passo Vezzena and again past Ex Forte Busa Verle to the start of the gravel military track. On very bumpy ground in between again fine gravel alternating push and ride passages. In open terrain one forgets the uphill strains through a dreamlike panorama with unique deep views to Lago di Caldonazzo and Lago di Levico. The summit of Cima Vezzena towers before us and we hike the last uphill meters to the summit. We stand totally impressed at the summit cross directly on Forte Vezzena, an extremely eerie war site with a cruel history that hopefully will never repeat. We pause and commemorate the many senseless fallen from WWI. The panorama is incredible 1500 height meters to Lago di Caldonazzo.
