Description:
Cerro Peñas Coloradas (4211 m asl) is a summit located in the Cordillera del Límite, alongside others like Caracoles, Titán, Gótico, Ancestral, and Chorrillos. It was first ascended and named by Don Evelio Echeverría in 1989. Access is from Quebrada de Matienzo, which starts right on the north side of the international tunnel exit on the Argentine side, then ascending its southwest ridge from Quebrada de Caracoles. It is a small summit within a sector of giants, but it offers beautiful views and a very little-visited setting.
