Record of the outing to Cerros Cabeza del Inca Este and Cerro Alto Mardones.

With the intention of ascending Cerro Cabeza del Inca Este (4105 m asl) located in Parque Andino Juncal, and from there seeking a possible route to Alto Mardones (designated only as 4098 on the IGM map), we headed on October 31, 2020, to the quebrada de Lagunillas, where we set up base camp at 3400 m asl. From there, we attacked the summit on Sunday, November 1, reaching the top of the first objective around 11:00 am. Then, we traversed to the portezuelo that closes the quebrada de Lagunillas and crossed to the other side of the cajón looking for a route to Alto Mardones. We managed to find access via its west face and from there to the northwest ridge that took us to the summit; we found no evidence of ascents there, which, added to the lack of information about this mountain, makes us think of a possible first ascent.
