Originally, Spielberg was located on a Danube island. However, due to floods and regulations, the river course changed, and this impressive and striking complex is now situated in the northern floodplains of the Danube. Extensive building parts and the ring walls are still present, and particularly noteworthy is the tall, excellently preserved and renovated bergfried. At the same time, the association "Freunde der Burgruine Spielberg" continuously carries out restoration and maintenance work to preserve this historical jewel for centuries to come.
